Corpus Christi Crossfire Volleyball Club
Corpus Christi Crossfire Volleyball Club currently operates within the Lone Star Volleyball Region of the USAV. This club strives to provide quality volleyball training and competition to female athletes from 9-18 years of age through clinics, camps, and highly competitive tournament play.
The club was founded in 2012 by Crystal Lyne after seeing a need for development of the overall quality of club volleyball in the Coastal Bend area of Texas. Her focus was to put the Coastal Bend area on the radar at a regional and national level, and she has exceeded all expectations in this regard in just one short year.
Crystal has been very familiar with this goal for many years, as she learned to play this great sport under the guidance of Coach Glen Lietzke in the Austin Juniors organization. After qualifying for five USAV National Tournaments in her junior career, she went on to play D1 volleyball at Baylor University.
Even though this is only the second year of competition for Corpus Christi Crossfire, it is Crystal’s third year to coach the majority of the players currently on her 161s team. She has now coached these girls through seven national qualifiers and finished with one gold medal, three second place medals and three separate bids to the USAV Girls' Junior National Championship tournament.
After the incredible inaugural success of this team, which not only showed leadership on the court by qualifying for the 2013 USAV Girls' Junior National Championship, but also demonstrated leadership in helping Crystal shape the sweet, humble, and extremely competitive culture of the club, it was determined that this quality opportunity should be shared. In order to preserve and perpetuate this unique volleyball culture, Crystal decided to add two more teams to the club this year at the 12U and 14U levels. It is with great excitement and anticipation that CC Crossfire awaits the evolution of these two new teams as well as the continued success of the 161s.
